The last two (or three) days of our stay in Australia were spent in Melbourne.
As long as we didn't have to navigate through the heavy traffic by car (a distance of 300m can take up to 45 minutes), we really liked the city. There are a lot of green areas and trees along the streets (although they can be quite annoying when taking photos!), once again a combination of old and new buildings, and the (quite brown) Yarra River, which runs through the city on its way to the estuary in the nearby lagoon and is used for various recreational activities.
The atmosphere of the city was very pleasant, and overall we have to say that Melbourne easily surpassed Sydney in terms of beauty and well-being...
And because it was so nice, we got an extra treat: our flight to Singapore was cancelled, so another day in Melbourne was added to our schedule before we (hopefully) can leave for Singapore with a 24-hour delay.
