We have already been on 4 road trips in Australia, covering the East Coast, West Coast, Red Centre, and the entire south (from Perth to Sydney). Now, only one corner of longing remains: The North-West, the Kimberleys. We will tackle this in the upcoming (European) summer.
We will start in Darwin but quickly head west after a short acclimatization. A brief visit to Purnululu National Park with the Bungle Bungle Ranges, and then we will hit the Gibb River Road - 660km of more or less off-road driving, including river crossings, surrounded by magnificent landscapes (at least that's the expectation). Then it's time for hiking in Karijini National Park and 'swimming with humpback whales' in Exmouth.
We have reached this far starting from Perth before, but this time we have a few more hours in our itinerary, allowing us to pay proper visits to Monkey Mia and Kalbarri National Park. Finally, in Perth, we look forward to visiting one of our absolute favorite pubs - Elizabeth Quay Island Brewery, before heading back to normal life.

So far, we have been on 4 road trips in Australia, exploring the East Coast, West Coast, the Red Centre, and the entire stretch from Perth to Sydney in the south. One corner of longing remains on our list, and we will now explore it: The Kimberley region in the far and remote north-western corner.
We will start our journey in Darwin but soon head westward. After a quick visit to Purnululu NP with its Bungle Bungle Ranges, we will embark on the Gibb River Road - 400 miles of off-road driving, including river crossings, and stunning landscapes all around (at least that's what we expect). We will pause for hiking in Karijini NP and for a session of 'swimming with humpback whales' near Exmouth.
We have previously visited Exmouth on a trip from Perth, so the remaining part of our journey will be somewhat familiar. However, this time we have a little more time and would like to properly explore Monkey Mia and Kalbarri NP. Finally, in Perth, we are excited to try the latest offerings at one of our favorite pubs worldwide - Elizabeth Quay Island Brewery, before returning to our regular lives.
