After 3 weeks of 'nature pure' in Namibia, we have now arrived in South Africa. Our tour along the Garden Route begins in Cape Town and takes us to Port Elizabeth.
The first day in Cape Town is all about Table Mountain, ......how could it be otherwise ;-)
A cloudless, blue sky tempted us to climb Table Mountain on foot. The ascent took about 1.5 hours and rewarded us with countless breathtaking panoramas. Upon reaching the plateau, we enjoyed a panoramic view of Cape Town and the beautiful coastlines.
On the second day, we opted for a Hop-On / Hop-Off with the funny red convertible buses. This was just right for us because we had sore muscles....... greetings from Table Mountain ;-). We drove to the districts of Bo Kaap with its colorful houses, went out to Cliften Beach, and strolled along the Waterfront, the central meeting point of the city.
Of course, a 'must' was visiting the 'Cape of Good Hope' which we did on the third day. Before that, we picked up our rental car and drove along Chapmans Drive, one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world, to the Cape.
Then we visited the penguin colony at Boulders Beach, where hundreds of little penguins waddled around on the beach and made it difficult for us to move on.
Finally, towards evening, we drove to Stellenbosch, our next stop on the Garden Route.
