Hello everyone,
I hope you're all doing well!
In early March, I was still carefree and happy going to the zoo, playdates, music class, etc. with my host children. In the second week of March, I met my dad in Miami to spend my first and probably only week of vacation with him. Luckily, he flew here just a few days before the travel ban from Europe to the US!
We took a walk on Miami Beach, went shopping the next day, and took a road trip to the beautiful island of Islamorada in the Florida Keys, where we spontaneously stopped at Theater of the Sea, which was the best decision ever! This is an institution that takes care of preserving species and nursing sick animals back to health. I even got a kiss from a dolphin! After that, we enjoyed a beautiful beach.
Before sunrise, we headed to Savannah, where we met my aunt, uncle, and Papa's friends and celebrated his 50th birthday together. Unfortunately, the St. Patrick's Day Parade that we were looking forward to did not take place, but we still had fun and admired Savannah's impressive nature before continuing to Charlotte. There, we visited Mama's former host parents and went on a boat tour, played tennis, and went biking together.
I'm very grateful and thankful that we were still able to take this trip and that it turned out better than expected despite the Corona situation!
