Today we wanted to see a little more of Phuket, so after breakfast we went to the scooter rental shop. Everyone here was very friendly and we got smaller but very stylish scooters and helmets.
We set off immediately to the BigBuddha in the south of the peninsula. The way there was long (approx. 45 minutes) but once again super exciting! The traffic on Phuket is not without its problems, but we managed everything well. It went through the jungle up to a mountain on which the huge white Buddha statue was enthroned. There was a great view and it was really impressive!
Then we went back down to a very beautiful section of beach “Kata Beach” where we took a short walk and drank another delicious mango passionfruit smoothie.
We continued along “Karon Beach” towards “Freedom Beach”. If we had known which route we had to take the scooters to get there, we might have reconsidered. It was steep uphill and downhill on a rocky and unpaved road.
After walking past the entrance to Freedom Beach for about 15 minutes, we were completely exhausted in the heat and needed something to drink first.
But after the cool refreshment we went on an adventurous descent through the jungle of Phuket towards the beach. Past loud cicadas, under branches and over small streams, it was worth it in the end. The beach was very nice and quiet, but unfortunately we couldn't see the sunset here as we had hoped and we preferred to hike back along the exciting path through the jungle in the light.
The way uphill was very strenuous as it still felt like 35 degrees and the humidity was around 80%. So when we got to the top there was some cool water before we got back on the scooters to head towards the hotel.
There wasn't much left to do here, we ate again in the restaurant from the first evening because we liked it so much and then fell into bed tired.
