Intro!
Almost nine years after our first trip with the big kids to the West Coast of the USA, we are now heading to the East Coast with the teenagers who have grown up in the meantime.
NYC is our first destination on our short winter trip, before we continue to Chicago for a few more days.
New York, a city known for the 5 boroughs, the Statue of Liberty, the epicenter of world finance, Saturday Night Fever, and probably the best pastrami sandwiches in the world... a city that never sleeps and tells stories from the Mafia to 9/11, we only know from movies and television so far.
That has to change!
After the preliminary trip to Frankfurt and a short night at the Best Western in Offenbach, we took the S-Bahn to the airport this morning.
It was actually just like always when we travel together: hectic and stressful... urging the teenagers, missing the S-Bahn, immortalizing Apple Crumble Latte in the departure hall ;-)
Anyway, we made it on time, the anticipation is huge, and United Flight 961 to Newark is now ready for boarding. Soon it will say: 'all doors in flight - cabin crew please prepare for take off.'
Big Apple - here we come!
