Today the plan is to set foot on Norwegian soil! Thanks to the unexpected sea day yesterday, we arrived in Aurlandsfjord on time. By the way, it is the longest Norwegian fjord. When we woke up at 7 am and opened the curtains, we were already near the end of the fjord. Our destination is Flåm.
For breakfast, we treated ourselves to Egg Benedict, waffles, croissants, and more, so we are well-fueled for the day. We explored Flåm comfortably and also found the rental station for our electric car. Since we were 2 hours early, but the sun was shining, we decided to ask if we could go earlier. It turned out to be a win-win situation, as the rental company was happy for us to go early, and we set off on our tour.
We drove along Aurlandsvangen (along the fjord) and then headed uphill towards Stegastein. We conquered the serpentine roads with the Twizy, enjoying the views and the flora and fauna. Stegastein itself was a spectacular platform on the pass. We enjoyed the amazing view in the great weather. On the way back, we made several photo stops and explored more of Flåm.
Our hunger led us to a small cafe, where we replenished ourselves with cod and goat meat. We refilled our energy for a hike through Flåm.
We spent some time shopping for souvenirs and then headed back to the ship. We departed at 6 pm sharp. The Norwegian captain, Roger (I'm not kidding), turned the ship in the fjord, and then we set off. We enjoyed the beautiful light atmosphere between the high peaks. We also treated ourselves to a meal at the buffet restaurant by the window at 10 pm (still bright outside), because we can't miss anything!
Even at 10 pm, we were still in Aurlandsfjord, we don't know what happened afterwards 🤤
