We arrive in Siem Reap in the evening, 1 hour immigration, tourist visa costs 30 dollars and is processed by 9 different people. Then 1 hour taxi ride from the new airport, which was built in 4 years by a Chinese company. Our hotel has a great location, but is very small and a bit run down. We go out to eat Khmer food for the first time. It tastes very good. The next morning we set off at 4:30 a.m. for the sunrise tour to the temples of Angkor Wat. On the first day we look at 4 temples, including the famous Tomb Raider Temple and of course the Vrah Vishnuloka “Holy Abode of Vishnu” originally as a Hindu temple of Angkor Wat. It is very impressive what was built here 1000 years ago. Luckily we finished at 1:30 p.m. because it was incredibly hot. In the evenings on Pub Street we also see the downside of a lot of tourism in a poor country. Children trying to sell small souvenirs in the evening
and young girls who are looking for a man. The next day we start the second part of the Angkor tour at 10 a.m. The area is huge and at 36 degrees we are happy about our air-conditioned bus. The tour guide is great and, in addition to the most important information about the temples, also tells a lot about Buddhism and life in Cambodia. We met super nice people, again from all over the world and most of them, like us, travel for a long time. 2 months or even half a year. All in all, two very special days that we will certainly remember forever. We could probably upload well over 100 photos today 🤣
