The city is great, I feel right at home here... right on the water, 1.8 million inhabitants, very hilly, very green.
The weather is perfect, even though it is only 20*C, the sun is shining quite brightly.
I was in the art gallery, interesting architecture and great art by young Maori women... very connected to the earth and ancestors. Here in New Zealand every text and every label is bilingual. Always English and Maori. You see a lot of Maori with their very impressive facial tattoos in everyday life. In contrast, in Australia I only saw 2-3 Aborigines in the whole time.
I was amazed by a film installation by a German artist, which had "The Germans, their forest" as its theme... funny..... The museum guard said that many visitors asked him about the message and background and he was happy that I could tell him a little about it.
I strolled back through the harbor, past the boat that sailed the America's Cup and that you can charter, and treated myself to a few Pacific oysters in the Soul restaurant... You see, I'm not feeling so bad here... 😉
Tomorrow I'm going on a whale watching tour and hope to see orcas.... 🐬
