Day 150: Departure

Publicēts: 21.07.2017

Today is the fourth and final day of our jungle trip. And it starts very early. 5 o'clock. We meet the others at the canoe. It's quiet, foggy, you can hear different birds and they are also the reason for our early wake-up. In the dawn, we slowly and sleepily sail across the river. The calm water, the fog, the jungle. It has something magical. Our visibility does not extend beyond 10 meters, but we still encounter some very interesting animals. Some birds, a sloth, and some monkeys show themselves to us. A beautiful ending. After breakfast, we pack our things, say goodbye to all the nice people we have met here in the jungle, and set off in the canoe for the return journey. Although we had already said goodbye to the jungle, it had not yet said goodbye to us. We sail across the river, some are excitedly chatting, others sit in silence in the boat and enjoy the overwhelming atmosphere of the jungle one last time. Suddenly, our guide jumps up. Anaconda! The driver brakes the canoe abruptly. We become frantic, everyone takes out their camera and searches, but no one sees anything. We steer towards the bushes on the bank. Excited, but focused. There it is. An approximately four-meter long, black shimmering, magnificent, young anaconda presents itself to us. Of course, it cannot be compared to its fully grown counterparts, which can reach up to nine meters in length, but still very impressive. In the last moment, after four days of searching, the jungle shows us the queen of snakes. An unforgettable ending.
