I have to admit that I haven't been in the mood to blog and write lately. Somehow there was so much going on and at the same time, not really. That's why I'm just going to write a post about the past few weeks and what we've been up to, because there has been quite a lot...
The first semester ended at the end of January, so many international students left and some new ones arrived.
February was generally uneventful. On February 7th, there was a Valentine's Day dance organized by the International Program, which was quite boring, and Valentine's Day itself was also uneventful. On February 15th, all 11th graders had to go on a field trip to North Island College, which has a campus here in Courtenay. We had a tour and could attend lectures. And there was free pizza, so you could say it was worth it.
In early March, one of my personal highlights took place: Heathers the Musical, which was staged by the school district. I wasn't part of it, but in the first few days of school, we went through the script in theater class, and since then I had been looking forward to the performance. When the time finally came, it felt like a part of my year was coming to an end.
At the end of March, another highlight took place: a trip to Vancouver combined with a hockey game. This time we stayed in a hotel in North Vancouver, which is connected to downtown by a water line. From the harbor, we had a great view of Vancouver's skyline with its skyscrapers. The hockey game took place on Saturday evening. The Canucks (Vancouver) played against the Sharks and lost. Unfortunately, there weren't many fights in the game, but it was still an awesome experience. A true Canadian experience.
Otherwise, rugby was the only thing going on. At the end of February, we had our first game in pouring rain and freezing wind, but it was still fun.
So that's just a little update from me. Less than 3 months left here...
