One day in Prague, I don't stay longer. Because Prague is full of tourists and when I come from the countryside to the city, it's always a little shock.
Following the course of the Vltava River, the city cycling network begins in the south. I can actually ride along the Vltava River. I will swim in the river again with the swimming club before cycling up to Vysehrad fortress to look over the Vltava River to St. Vitus Cathedral. Next to it is a beautiful cemetery with unknown personalities to me. One was obviously a football player. Then I go to the city center and the closer I get to the famous Astronomical Clock, the more crowded it gets. It's as if corona and social distancing are a thing of the past. But it's almost 2 o'clock and I want to see the procession of the Apostles. I swim along with the tourist crowd to the Charles Bridge. Then I need some rest and find it on the island. Now it's really warm here in Prague and I struggle my way to the camping site in the north, which is located on a whitewater course. There is currently a competition going on and there is a lot going on. After eating, I get tired again and ride to St. Vitus Cathedral. It's great how quiet it is here now and I enjoy the illumination. Going back in the dark is also a challenge.
I still can't sleep long and I'm already on the move at 7 a.m. The good bike paths are still close to the Vltava River and the valley becomes narrower again for a nice section. At one of the narrowest points, I get a flat tire again. At the spot where the spoke was broken, the tire was damaged by the brakes and the inner tube rubbed against the rim. I actually need a new tire. I try to fix the spot with tape and thick paper.
Just before the mouth of the Vltava River into the Elbe, which is called Labe here, I have to change the river bank again. A new bridge is under construction but not yet open. So I have to use the transition between the thick pipes, unload everything and carry it up in 3 batches. I hear Silbermond singing: It's easier to travel with light luggage. After the view from the church tower of Melnik, I now go down the Elbe to Litomerice.
