Red Bridge Campsite, Wanaka

The day starts early and strenuous, because we start hiking on Roys Peak at half past 2 - of course well equipped with our headlamps. We reach the 1320m at 5 o'clock and slowly watch the sunrise. Unfortunately, Arnd doesn't feel well, so he can't really enjoy the beautiful morning. While the sun slowly rises over Wanaka from the front, we have the full moon and the snow-covered mountains behind us. After a 13km long and damn steep hike, we happily arrive at the car. Then we drive to take showers and wash our clothes and spend the rest of the day at Lake Wanaka to recover. In the evening we drive to a campsite at Lake Hawea, which is really beautiful. By chance, we meet the two German guys from Greymouth again and play a round of cards with them before going to bed after a very long day.
