We had extended our AirBnb in Manly until Thursday before Maxim and Jannik set off for the outback. Elliott and I had decided that we wanted to stay together in Sydney until Christmas and New Year and rent an apartment/room in an apartment. However, the housing situation in Sydney is comparable to other major cities in Germany and is not very easy and a minimum rental period of 3 months is usually required. After a few apartment visits and rejections, we finally found an apartment, but only for a week. It was then clear to me that I would continue to sleep in hostels. I haven't had any job offers yet either and I set myself a one week deadline, otherwise I'll leave Sydney. In addition to all these organizational and often stressful days, I didn't miss the opportunity to go to the beach, play volleyball and surf.
Over the weekend I visited Surry Hills, an up-and-coming Sydney neighborhood with a creative, queer-friendly scene and hip vintage shops, cafes and bars. The streets here are very colorful and many buildings are decorated with graffiti.
On Sunday I visited the Blue Mountains National Park with a few friends, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There was an approximately 3-hour hike here.
