According to the ranger, it is the tallest brick lighthouse in the USA and the second tallest in the world.
However, that didn't stop us from climbing the 257 steps (self-counted, dear Klaus!) and enjoying the fantastic view of Cape Point, where the Labrador Current meets the Gulf Stream.
It was stormy and my hairspray had no chance.
