๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Vang Vieng

Tihchhuah a ni: 12.02.2024

On December 12th we drove from Nong Khiaw back to Luang Prabang by minivan. Since we couldn't book a train ticket for the same day, we stayed one more night and took the train to Vang Vieng the next day.

Traveling by train in Laos is really super comfortable and modern. With the express train you can cover long distances in a short time and we always paid around โ‚ฌ12 per person for the tickets.

When we arrive at the train station in Vang Vieng, the tuk tuks are already waiting for the tourists outside. We took a tuk tuk into town with two Germans.

By the way, the backpacks are checked at the train station and we both had to hand over our pocket knives, which was very annoying. They don't let anyone talk to them either.

We stayed from December 13th. until December 17th, 2023 in Vang Vieng. This time Chris booked the accommodation for us and we finally had a nice view ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ the hotel also had a pool and it wasn't far to the supermarket and some shops and restaurants. The range of leisure activities was huge: kayaking, climbing, trekking tours, hot air ballooning, visiting the lagoons and guided tours through caves, etc. There was always hell going on on the river, it was swarming with boats. We didn't feel like doing that. We preferred to discover the region on foot. A visit to the gym was also included. At sunset the hot air balloons rose into the sky and they always passed directly by our room. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

On the last day we actually wanted to go on an off-road tour with the buggy, but the evening before, Christian wasn't feeling well and had diarrhea that night. Things didn't get any better the next day. He couldn't eat anything, only lay down and was flat. I got him medication at the nearest pharmacy and he drank electrolytes. He improved slightly by the day of departure on the 17th, but he was weak on his feet. We wanted to take the train to Vientiane and had already booked the tickets.
