Antigua at night

There were hostels and hostels, despite thorough research and personal recommendations, each hostel had its surprises. The large popular accommodations were usually professionally managed establishments, while others reminded more of chaotic student shared flats, and others were family-run guesthouses.

My accommodation in Antigua clearly fell into the last category. The internet reviews were mixed and the standard of the facilities was a bit outdated. The manager could see my disappointment when checking in and then cleaned even more diligently. After four nights, I could say that Los Tecolotes had grown on me. As usual, it was because of the other guests with whom I had good conversations here. This is how it happened that I spent the weekend with Tibo from Marseille and Günes from Munich. The two twenty-somethings had their own vacation rhythm: beer in the early afternoon, drinking games, and evenings at the club 'The Temple'.

Antigua had strict closing times for bars and restaurants. The sidewalks were rolled up here at 9pm. But a few establishments seemed to be exempt from this ... with the knowledge of the police.
