Skitag and bye bye

Tihchhuah a ni: 13.03.2018

Today we were able to enjoy a wonderful day of skiing. We practically had the chairlift with the technical training and race track to ourselves. The weather was perfect and the slopes were an absolute dream.

We even got to be catered by the catering team again. Before that, our Jürg couldn't resist and had to help out with the demolition work despite having a day off. And then it was time to say goodbye to the catering team and slowly make our way back to our base. But in between, there was the over 5km long downhill run, which we enjoyed to the fullest, and at the end of this run, our legs were so sore that we had to strengthen ourselves in a ski hut first. After this fortification, we had to dry the skis at the compressed air stand and then it was time to pack. The luggage had drastically increased compared to the outward journey. On the one hand, because of the additional clothes we received from OBS and on the other hand, because of my souvenir shopping, which got a little out of hand. Surprisingly, I managed to fit everything in my two suitcases, the ski bag, and the carry-on luggage (backpack). There was even room for more in the ski bag than I needed ;-)

In the evening, it was also time to say goodbye to our technicians. We enjoyed dinner at the Spaghetteria, where we once again reflected on our experiences, so that we enjoyed the short night with a great feeling.

At 6:00 a.m., the coach driver was already waiting, where all the luggage could be loaded into the truck, which drove separately to the airport. Our coach driver heated up the bus again. Jürg and I were in the bus with our t-shirts on and our legs were really hot from the heating. We wanted to point out this problem to the coach driver when René ran past us from behind wearing a ski jacket. They were even cold in the jacket. The driver did his best to ensure that the temperatures were more or less the same and that there was not a 30-degree difference between the front and the back of the bus. Around noon, we were able to take the 12-hour return flight with Korean Air and prepare ourselves for home and the familiar environment. A great trip, many new acquaintances, and a cool opportunity and experience so close to the ski stars.
