After we had to change our plans and couldn't go to Playa Maria La Gorda, we decided to visit one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful beach in Cuba. Off to Varadero! So we took a taxi to the aforementioned town. We reached our hostel in the early afternoon. The town is small and manageable. The streets are adorned with countless stalls where you can buy lots of trinkets. Unfortunately, there is not much culture to see here. An old, simple church and that's it. Next to the stalls are restaurants, bars, and hotels. There is even a "shopping mall". But well, we came here because of the beach and not to explore any cultural highlights. And now we are standing there, the first view of the sea, shimmering deep blue and turquoise! And the white sandy beach. Pretty impressive, we think, even though the beach is very crowded. The loungers and tourists stack up in front of the hotels, as well as in the smaller free beach areas. You quickly notice that people come here to vacation. Nevertheless, due to its vastness, the beach does not feel completely overcrowded like, for example, in Ballermann etc. pp. You can spend a few days here. A good place to relax, even if, probably due to the tourists, the prices are much higher and the quality of the food is significantly worse. The water has bathtub temperature and you can walk quite far into it. The sandbanks make this possible. After two days, we set off for Varadero of the locals. A town called Guanabo! We are curious to see how it will be.
Info will follow as always soon.
Best regards
