Colonial Splendor Popayán

Popayán in Colombia was the next destination on our journey. After a three-hour wait at the border, we took our first overnight drive and arrived at Hotel Krone exhausted at 5:30am in pouring rain. Fortunately, the owner let us in without a reservation and had a room available for us. After a good night's sleep, we set out to explore the small city and took a great free walking tour, almost regretting our decision to leave tomorrow. Popayan not only has beautiful churches and a lively main square, but everything a traveler's heart desires: good food, many different shops, and hair salons. Jonas got his beard trimmed, or rather completely shaved off at the insistence of the hairdresser.
