Day 77: Today our journey took us along the west coast to the northernmost tip, Skinari Cap. But one thing at a time.
After the tavern turned off the music in the next village, we had a very quiet night. At least we didn't hear any cars on the road.
After waking up, we head straight to Porto Vromi Beach. When we arrive, everything is still deserted. However, the small beach is still in the shade. This gives us some time to explore the small harbor (only pleasure and excursion boats). After that, the beach belongs to us alone. We will miss swimming in such crystal clear water at home.
From around 10 am, package tourists and cruise ship passengers arrive to take a boat tour. The beach gets busy, but never uncomfortably crowded. We enjoy the water and the warm sun before we head to Navagio Beach (also known as Shipwreck Beach) around 3 pm.
Once we arrive, we park Nuggy on the very bumpy parking lot before going to the viewpoint. It is very narrow, so usually only one person has a really good view of the beach with the shipwreck. And since there are always one or two handfuls of other tourists waiting in line for this spot, you can't enjoy the view in peace, as the others are already impatient. BUT: The view is breathtaking! What an amazing blue! What a beach!
That was the appetizer, we want more! But the paths along the cliffs, where you might be able to see more, are closed. Large signs warn of the possibly fatal risks and threaten with penalties. But if you look closely, you can see plenty of people breaking the rules. So we give it a try too, but we won't take any risks. And it's worth it! What great impressions along the way and at the end of the path. Another incredibly moving place.
Overwhelmed by so many natural wonders, we need some rest before continuing. In the evening, we arrive at Cap Skinaro and stand there all alone in a dream spot below the lighthouse. We end the day with a romantic sunset at the cape.
