Day 26 - September 29, 2023 Drive to Omalo

At 9 a.m. the Mitsubishi Delica is in front of the campsite and we immediately set off on the road of death to Omalo. First 20 km of country road, then a Russian couple gets on and the wild tour begins. Beate has a huge bungus. But the driver is older and knows how to drive the car. We climb steadily with reductions until we reach the 2826 m high Albano Pass. We have great views when the sun is shining. The temperature is 9° C. Now we go down to Tusheti. A breakdown in the wheel hub is solved confidently by the driver. At around 1 p.m. we are in upper Omalo and move into our simple but perfectly adequate room in a guesthouse. After a short lunch, we go on a hike to a beautiful viewpoint. We returned around 5 p.m. and were able to sit on the terrace in the sunshine. A rich dinner awaits us at 7 p.m. The Georgian food culture is different from that in Germany. You will receive two or three bowls with e.g. E.g. rice, vegetables and bread and start eating. Suddenly a soup is brought to you, then a plate of meat and 10 minutes later a pizza. You can't possibly eat everything. We enjoy the meal with a bottle of wine and then quickly retreat to bed because of the cold.
