Day 24, Stockholm

Tihchhuah a ni: 12.06.2022

Before diving into the hustle and bustle, I need to take care of my laundry bag so it can breathe again. So first things first, I need to buy detergent and do some laundry.

Today is all about art and culture. But before that, I'll take a look at the memorial plaque at the site of Olof Palme's murder.

The two-time Prime Minister of Sweden (1969–1976 and 1982–1986) was internationally recognized as a voice for disarmament and understanding and advocated for the interests of the Third World.

Palme was shot dead on the streets of central Stockholm on February 28, 1986, after a visit to the cinema. The police were in the dark for a long time. In 1989, a drug addict was found guilty, but later acquitted. In 2017, a newly formed investigation group announced that he was likely not the perpetrator.

He is buried nearby with his wife.

I've been looking forward to visiting the Fotografiska Museum for a long time. Eight years ago, we saw the wonderful Genesis exhibition by Sebastio Salgado there with the children. This time, among other things, there are pictures by Andy Warhol to see.

On my way to my afternoon coffee, I pass by an exhibition for street art, which I spontaneously decide to visit as well. The coffee will have to wait.

After coffee, I take a stroll through Södermalm and then return tired to the hotel to focus on planning my route to the Åland Islands.
