The day today started with a delicious breakfast, which was again provided to us by our hosts in this great accommodation. A good start to the day before we headed to the national park. Outside, the next positive surprise awaited us: the weather looked good! During the drive from Hinton to the national park, we noticed that we were surrounded by massive mountains; the Rocky Mountains! We hadn't seen any of them due to the bad weather, so this really surprised us today. The landscape looked truly gigantic! And we weren't even in the national park yet. It could only get better from here.
Our first destination for the day was Maligne Canyon. When we arrived, the parking lot was already quite full, and the obligatory busloads of Asians were also present. At first, we were worried, but luckily the crowds dispersed quite well in the canyon itself. We walked one of the many trails right along the canyon and were impressed by the rushing water. Every now and then, we even spotted large ice chunks that were a testament to the recent winter. The view of the canyon was truly fascinating. In fact, this word summarizes the entire Canadian landscape. I'm sure we'll mention this word more often ;)
Unfortunately, we didn't have much peace and quiet on the trail along the canyon. We probably should have chosen one of the many hiking trails around the canyon, but we also had a few other destinations on our list, so we didn't have the whole day to spend here. So we started making our way back, but along the way, we still managed to find a few quieter spots and even saw our first chipmunk. Much to my delight!
After that, we headed to Medicine Lake.
