Auf zur letzten Bratwurst vor Amerika...

Enough with fog and rain - I need vitamin D!

And that's why Bine is flying alone to the south, with a stop in Vila Nova de Milfontes; a small, not overcrowded tourist town with pretty houses, at a river mouth and a beautiful, empty bathing bay. Okay, I didn't go swimming again, even though it was warm and I definitely spent an hour lying on my blanket, reading and watching the waves. I missed the wave-loving Micha. I don't want to say that I don't miss him otherwise - no, no ... but I can manage quite well with our equipment. So, I worried unnecessarily again. Again and again, I have to think of my ex-husband's mantra: Time solves most problems. Why do I always forget that?!?!?! However, I don't dare to touch my bike. I'm afraid I won't be able to put it back on the carrier correctly and secure it properly. That's a shame; the hiking shoes are happy.

After 2 nights, I'm moving on. Heinrich is waiting - Heinrich the Navigator and the southwestern tip of the European mainland, the up to 70m high cliffs with their wonderful colors. After 2 hours by car, I unexpectedly found myself in front of a beautiful camping site, from which I could start my hike to Cabo de Sao Vincete. The Christians named the coastal tip after Saint Vincent of Saragossa, a patron saint of sailors. But what happened to the lighthouse??? Its light beam reaches 32 nautical miles (almost 60 km) over the Atlantic and it is considered the brightest lighthouse in Europe. On one of the busiest sea routes in the world, the ships passing by the cape keep a safe distance. But today it looked as if Christo & Jeanne-Claude had been here - it is wrapped in partially torn cloths ... Restoration? I have no idea, but my aesthetic expectations were seriously confused. Oh well ... Heinrich the Navigator was the initiator, patron and commissioned the Portuguese explorations in the first half of the 15th century. From the nearby Sagres, numerous explorations were undertaken along the African coast. Today, an important navigation school is located there and ...

... tomorrow I will go to Faro early to pick up Micha again - how nice! :-)
