The nights are getting colder and colder, it was cold tonight too and we were happy that we had a power connection and a functioning heating system tonight. This morning it was only 6°. It's the end of October and even in California it's getting very autumnal.
Nevertheless, we set off full of anticipation and drove our motorhome over the Sierra Nevada, a very beautiful country road that was almost empty, over the mountains until we came to the Kern River. Here we took an enjoyable lunch break in the sun before continuing west through Sequoia National Park. The Kern River was a wild river, the highway running parallel to it all the time. The vegetation was constantly changing, among other things we saw endless fields of small palm trees that looked like Yucas, but were not Yucas. Take a look at the pictures and guess.
Towards the early afternoon we entered the Central Valley, first to Bakersfield, an incredibly ugly city, and then quickly continued north. After almost 400 km we made it to Fresno and were sitting in the evening sun with beer and pistachios.
