Dragaville and Pukenui

Tihchhuah a ni: 07.04.2018

On the way from Auckland to the top of the North Island, we made a stop in Dragaville where we stayed at a Kumara (sweet potato) farm that provides a kitchen, shower, and toilet for campers. My dad would have loved this place. Everything the farmer has collected over time is displayed there. Well, it didn't necessarily look good, but each to their own :D He also offers tours of his farm where he explains the cultivation of sweet potatoes. You can even see on a screen how they are planted and harvested. So it was very interesting and something completely different. The next day we went to Pukenui where we stayed over Easter. On the way to Pukenui, we crossed some beautiful regions and visited places. Among other things, we went to a lake that is quite large and consists only of rainwater, which means its depth depends on the amount of rain. We also visited the largest Kauri tree in New Zealand. That was very crazy because before entering the forest, we had to clean and disinfect our shoes (!!!) so that no pests would be brought in.

From Pukenui, it is only an hour to the northernmost tip of New Zealand. Up there, there are only 2 campsites, but unfortunately, they have no internet... However, since we want to call our families on Easter, we have decided to stay in Pukenui and explore the northern part from there in a day trip. I'm happy about that, so I can finally bring the entries up to date and here the internet is not so bad, which is unfortunately not so common on the North Island.... so this entry is the most up-to-date one ;) We wish you all a Happy Easter. We hope the weather is as nice for you as it is for us and that you can enjoy searching for Easter eggs ;)
