Camptour 11th part: from Fort Steele to Banff

Tihchhuah a ni: 22.05.2018

From Fort Steele, we headed to the national parks. The route to Banff goes through Kootenay National Park and then through Banff National Park. Together with Jasper National Park, they form a large area where you have to pay an entrance fee. 20 dollars per car per night (camping fees are extra). The annual pass costs 140 dollars. Although we only stayed for six nights, since I'll be here for a few more months, we got the annual pass.

Shortly before entering the national park, we had an encounter that you probably only have here in Canada. In the small village of Radium Hot Springs (every time I read that, I think of Radiator Springs from Cars), we suddenly spotted bighorn sheep on the green strip between the road and the parking lot. They were peacefully grazing and were not bothered by anything.

The entrance to the national park is already impressive, the road goes between two high rock walls. And the beauty of the landscape doesn't diminish afterwards. Snow-covered mountain peaks and forests as far as the eye can see. Unfortunately, the animals didn't really show themselves during this time of year.
