This morning, I took a closer look at the hospital with Charlotte. We visited Katrin, the pediatrician, in the delivery room. She also showed us the neonatal ward and the children's ward. The conditions and resources are alarming 😔☹️ compared to our advanced medical technology. Katrin is sometimes very frustrated. On average, about 3 children die here per week. Often because the hospital reacts too late or unprofessionally, or because the parents arrive at the hospital too late. Unbelievable!!!
The premature babies are simply placed on a wooden shelf in the delivery room and cared for here. The mothers sit in front of them. See picture for comparison.
In the kangaroo room, the newborns are then bound to their mothers' stomachs to keep them warm instead of using an incubator.
They receive special nutrition from small caps. See picture for comparison.
In the children's ward, mothers either sleep together with their children in the children's beds or on the floor in front of them.
Otherwise, today was my last day of treatment and I introduced Felix, the new colleague. I hope everything goes smoothly next week without any complications, because the young colleague still lacks a lot of experience.
Tomorrow we will visit another school.
Tonight we made pizza together and said goodbye to Ludwig. He is flying back home tomorrow.
