Wellness & Peace in Khao Lak

We are so relaxed, we forgot to write again. Khao Lak is beautiful, unlike the rest of our trip, this is the first time we really feel like tourists here at TUI Sensimar! We simply relaxed for 2 days, enjoyed Thai massages, and celebrated my birthday in a cozy way, at the highest restaurant in town with a view of the Indian Ocean. Since the restaurant is located very high, we decided to ride in the cargo bed of a pick-up truck with a very nice local! Unfortunately, the weather was not so great in the afternoon and it rained like a monsoon - so much for the dry season! But even rain and thunderstorms are a real experience here, I have never seen such bright and extreme lightning in the sky. In the evening, we strolled through the town and did some shopping. We even saw the world's largest beetle, about the size of a plate, which made even the Thais nervous.

By the way, Khao Lak is the place where the tsunami in 2004 caused the most devastation, and monuments and museums everywhere remind us of this sad 2nd Christmas. You can still visit the police boat here, which was thrown kilometers inland by the tsunami.

Today we plan to relax on the beach and cuddle with the monitor lizards - the sun seems to be shining again. In the next few days, my birthday present is waiting for me - island hopping to the Similan Islands and going snorkeling!

Unfortunately, half of the time has already passed!
