After a second relaxing day at the pool with another visit to the best burger restaurant (In-N-Out), the peace was over on Wednesday - we flew to Las Vegas! We were already looking forward to it because we liked Vegas four years ago and had only admired the 'Cosmopolitan' hotel from a distance. Now we stayed there for two nights. Yeah! On the way to the airport, we were already making jokes like 'I hope the suitcase arrives!' We also had clothes to change in our carry-on bags just in case. Sabine's suitcase arrived undamaged, but one wheel was missing from my suitcase! Of course, I wanted to complain right away at the Virgin America service counter. However, the employee said that wheels and handles are not insured. Oh great! He gave me a $25 voucher for the next baggage check-in, nothing more. Well, I will now write a complaint email, my Samsonite suitcase was not cheap.
Of course, that was annoying, but it can happen when traveling. The annoying part is that it happened at the beginning of my stay. And you could have expected a bit more customer friendliness at the airport. This country is always interesting, customer-friendly in certain areas - for example, when exchanging money, you could exchange everything, I exchanged a SIM card with a completely torn packaging - they would even accept used makeup without a reason. However, when you're waiting for services, such as check-in at a hotel or at the airport or at T-Mobile, it's like watching paint dry, the employees are so slow and sometimes make everything unnecessarily complicated, totally inefficient. But then they compensate for that with free refills for drinks and usually fast food outlets 😊
So we drove to the hotel with the beaten up suitcase and longed for something to eat after the never-ending check-in. We went to the Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant, which didn't convince us because of the high prices and small portions compared to American standards. But it was delicious. Afterwards, I had a Ben&Jerry's ice cream and a typical Las Vegas long drink - an ice-cold, sorbet-like drink, super sweet (for example, like a strawberry margarita), very tasty. But be cautious when enjoying it, but more on that later. In the evening, we watched a show/concert by Pitbull - unfortunately, all the superstars like Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, or Céline Dion were on summer break. But a little 'Culoooooo' was also quite funny. However, I couldn't fully enjoy it because we bought such a cold drink shortly before the concert and had to gulp it down hurriedly - my stomach felt like a giant ice bag about to burst! Brain freeze and tummy freeze 🙈 Conclusion: You're not 20 anymore! (After Universal Studios, this is already the 2nd experience of this kind 🙈)
We spent the second day by the pool and got up at 6:30 am to secure one of the coveted spots at the pool. And it was worth it! After so many hours in the sun, we were quite tired and ended the evening in a gourmet burger restaurant (mmh, truffle parmesan fries!!).
