Day 8, Tursac, Beynac et Cazenac, La Roque Gageac

After a restful night, we started our day with our first breakfast at the hotel. Until now, we had always stopped at bakeries on the way. But the hotel was so beautiful and the hosts so welcoming that we didn't want to miss out on breakfast. Actually, it's not a hotel, Elizabeth and her husband rent out 2 rooms in their home, so you immediately feel much more at home than in a 'normal' hotel. After being warmly welcomed by the lady of the house yesterday, we were also greeted by her husband at breakfast. There was even homemade apple crumble.
We took a short walk through the market and set off on the 'village tour'.

Along the way, we reached the 2000 km mark, but the joy was short-lived because shortly afterwards our car broke down for the first time. It gave up in the middle of the highway and didn't want to go any further (exhaust system defect). After a brief panic attack from us and a short break for the car (just one cigarette long), we continued. So far, without any problems, and the engine light also went off after an hour or two.
Onward to the inland. Surrounded by many small villages, meadows, and farms, and on spectacular roads (which would be more like a walking path for us), we set off for various towns with castles, winding streets, and small quaint houses (Tursac, Beynac et Cazenac, La Roque Gageac). Since it got dark early due to the weather, we abandoned the original route and checked into a hotel in nearby Sarlat La Caneda.
Upon arrival at Hotel La Couleuvrine (parking luck continues, no parking fees in November and December), we end the day with a small menu and fall into bed.
