After a short city control drive through Auxerre, we headed to Champagne. Our journey first took us through Chablis to Troyes. The city is made up of crooked half-timbered houses and small streets. No wonder it regularly ranks among the most romantic cities in France. Strengthened by entrecote and rabbit leg, we continue driving through the vineyards. And there are really a lot of vineyards here. Among other things, we passed by the vines of Veuve-Clicquot and Deutz. Through Oger and Avize we go on the Champagne Route to Epernay. Of course, we were here on the legendary Avenue du Champagne and could admire the Moet Chandon champagne house and many others. Our final destination for today, Reims, initially greeted us with a 'Bouchon' (traffic jam). But the way to the hotel with beautiful Christmas lights immediately compensated us. The whole city is beautifully decorated and put both of us in a Christmas mood right away. In addition to the beautiful Christmas market around the cathedral with many champagne stops and raclette sandwiches, there was even a Ferris wheel that clearly called Svenja and Kevin. A great view of the whole city.
For dinner, we were at the hotel restaurant, big, loud, and a mix between a brasserie and an English pub. On the menu for us were venison terrine and marinated salmon, followed by Filet Rossini and morel risotto. At the end of the day, there was a Cafe Gourmand and a Champagne Gourmand.
