Our day started off relaxed with a cozy breakfast on board. Then we drove into the traffic chaos of Lyon. Our first stop was La Dombes. We were mainly attracted to the landscape, which is dotted with ponds and fields, because of the fresh frog legs, and they were absolutely fantastic. Crispy, with fresh herbs and garlic on a stove and served with potato gratin. Simply delicious. Our road trip continued through the vineyards of Beaujolais (unfortunately without a tasting) and into Burgundy. The landscape is worth seeing, the villages are charming, the roads are sometimes adventurous, and we had a lot of fun. Cows on the left, goats on the right, a castle straight ahead, and our Peugeot in the middle. In the pretty town of Cluny, we made our last stop and looked for a hotel while enjoying coffee and tea. We found a small supposed 'luxury hotel' in Viré, 20 km away. Upon arrival, it turns out that the rooms are special but still beautiful. However, the hotel does not meet its own standards at all. It is chaotic, dark, distant, and cold. Luckily, we found a great restaurant across the street and were able to enjoy a Chardonnay barrique with our delicious dinner.
