Day 14, Carcassonne, Narbonne

ຈັດພີມມາ: 10.11.2019

Today we start the day with the biggest and most diverse market 'Victor Hugo' in Toulouse. There are various stands of stockfish, ham, suckling pig, dry aged beef (up to 60 days), kidney and lung parts, sausage, fish, crustaceans, fruits, vegetables, wine, and so on. All these delicacies have made us hungry. For breakfast, we have croissant jambon, croque monsieur, and feuilleté saucisse.
On the way back to our hotel, we happened to pass by a second 'open-air' market. Lots of fruits and vegetables are offered here, but also roasted chicken and pork belly, as well as dried fruits and flowers.
On the way to Carcassonne, the car breaks down again. The well-known cigarette break is supposed to fix it and off we go. Arriving in Carcassonne 'ville basse', we find another free parking spot (it's getting outrageous) and hike up the mountain towards the fortress (cité médiévale). We found it quite touristy, beautiful but not authentic. On the way between the two city walls, we were almost alone and enjoyed the sun. Carcassonne was nice to look at, but we just didn't feel comfortable. So we got back in the car and headed to Narbonne. It's beautiful here, we feel good. A small river in the middle of the city, a few restaurants are still open, even though Sundays are like deserted here. We walked across the city and saw many beautiful buildings. Above all, we were blown away by the cathedral. After that, we had our aperitif at the wine bar Macar with a colorful mixed appetizer platter. For dinner, Svenja finally had pasta at the Pizzeria Bella Napoli, which we can also recommend without hesitation. We also really like our hotel 'le C boutique Hotel', so today we did everything right
