A UNESCO World Heritage site, Trulli round houses.
30th travel day:
A rare cultural experience, how beautiful. Round structures built without aids like cement or wood and nails. They withstand the strongest winds, and if they don't, they are quickly rebuilt. Part of our group rides their bikes, while the others take the bus. Commercialization has taken hold everywhere in the Trulli houses, but they are still beautiful to look at. Some of our friends have never heard of or seen these round houses. They are very excited about the nature of these iconic conical structures. The folk origins have been completely preserved. The houses consist of a large room with a fireplace and a sleeping nook. We are biking back to the parking area.
You wouldn't believe it, but the temperatures have cooled a bit at night, but it is still very warm during the day. 4:00 PM Bouletime. Later, there will be a briefing. Oops, it's dripping; a large mushroom is sitting above us in the tree, and it's not waterproof. Tomorrow the journey continues.....
