'Mama, get up!' - At 2:30am Sammy's internal clock wakes up for the first time and everyone is wide awake. First we keep him busy for an hour, then we try to put him back to sleep. Jet lag is tough, but we manage somehow.
Today we're heading to the Hollywood Hills to get as close as possible to the famous Hollywood sign. We drive up the mountain on narrow winding roads and actually find a spot with parking to take some beautiful photos. The view of LA and the surrounding snob villas is breathtaking.
Then we stay on the mountain and drive a little further to the Griffith Observatory, a 'observatory' from the 30s. From here you have the best view of the city. The number of visitors in the morning is still relatively ok and even parking is free (quite unusual for LA). We take some panoramic photos before heading back to downtown Hollywood.
There we find an affordable parking lot ($25 for the whole day) to walk along the famous 'Walk of Fame'. We visit the TCL Chinese Theatre as well as the Dolby Theatre (formerly Kodak Theatre) famous for the Oscars. We also visit Madame Tussauds including the Marvel 5D cinema and satisfy our hunger at the McDonald's on Hollywood Blvd. (By the way, here it is again about being 'employee of the month' at the ordering machine, but we are already familiar with that from Vienna).
In the evening, we take a dip in the hotel pool, we're too tired for an evening walk...
