Today we are hitting the slopes a little earlier, so the alarm clock goes off at 07:40. The alarm is set a bit too loud, so it almost knocks our socks off. After breakfast, we drive (our car is the middle one in yesterday's picture, a Hyundai Tucson) towards the ski area.
The temperature in the car shows -12 degrees, so we bundle up. In the parking lot, we park our car next to a bunch of pickups, as big pickups are the standard vehicle here. As we put on our ski or snowboard boots, our fingers freeze. It's freezing cold on the chairlift towards Timper Bowl... Once we reach the top, we warm up quickly to bring our half-frozen fingers back to life. After a short descent to the next lift, we're already warmer again. The lifts here are older than the ones we have, and some of them don't hang, which means getting on and off is a bit rough
It's snowing lightly and there's a thin layer of powder snow on the "piste". We mainly choose our runs between the trees, which is extremely fun. Sometimes it's narrow, so we have to be careful to catch the turn in time or else...
After lunch in the village, we're back on the slopes. In the lower part of the ski area, it's about 5 degrees cooler and the slope is quite hard and icy, so we go back up. Unfortunately, the visibility is a bit blurred, but the trees enhance the contours and make it good for skiing in the woods.
At 15:30, we head back because today is the Super Bowl and we don't want to miss it. After a shower, we head towards downtown. We sit in a crowded pub where it's pretty loud. The ordered mountain of nachos and two beers are enough for dinner. There are many Eagles fans, which makes Yves happy, and the game is extremely exciting, with a better ending for the Philadelphia Eagles.
While we watch the game inside, it continues to snow heavily outside. After the game ends, we walk back on the snowy streets to our accommodation, where we quickly fall into bed.
