Off the path

Last weekend, we had an extended weekend due to the Chingming Festival. Together with a German couple, we took the train to Wuyishan in Fujian Province on Friday after work. Our destination for the first hike on Saturday was the dock for the rafting trip. Wuyishan is actually very famous and since Xi Jinping was there two weeks before us, now everyone knows about it. We expected a lot of people. But thanks to Simon's offline map, we hiked on paths that are normally only used by locals and didn't encounter a single soul. However, we had the most beautiful views by far and even a little cooling off for the men!

Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the rafting trip because the last rafts were already departing at 2:30 pm. But we wouldn't want to miss the hike for anything!

The next morning, we went straight to the rafting trip early in the morning, where we had a very nice view of the mountains again. After a short break, we then made our way to Lotus Peak. Passing by beautiful tea plantations again, we reached the peak after several hours of hiking.

These hikes were some of the most beautiful ones we have done in China so far: almost no people, few paved paths or stairs, but a lot of nature and tranquility.

Best regards,

Anna and Simon
