Together with two of my new colleagues, I undertook a trip to Padua today.
After a shared Café alla menta, all fatigue had completely vanished, and we explored the city center until we reached the Piazza Signori with the Torre dell'Orologio. This is adorned with an illustration of the zodiac signs. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that only eleven of the twelve zodiac signs are depicted. My colleague explained to me that Libra and Scorpio were considered one sign during the time of the tower's construction. The Scorpio is visible, but the Libra has been missing to this day. Be honest, would you have noticed it?
After this little lesson, we all three needed new energy for our legs and brains, so we grabbed some delicious Panzerotti around the corner. Refreshed, the tour continued, passing by the Museo la Speccola and moving on to the gigantic Prato della Valle, which amazed us with its small island.
After passing the Abbazia di Santa Giustina and over the Basilica di Sant'Antonio di Padova, we took the train back to Verona, to end the afternoon here - once again - with a delicious ice cream. I must say, these daily ice breaks are a sweet temptation that I could definitely get used to.
