We spent the night in Guayaquil and today we took an early morning bus to Puerto Lopez on the coast.
In the evening, we asked the hotel for the best and fastest bus connection. It wasn't easy to find the right provider. But the hotel employee finally chose a provider for us - named JIPIJAPA😉.
The buses 🚎 left every hour from 6:15 a.m. and only until 12:15 p.m. For us, it was clear that we would take either the 7:15 or 8:15 bus.
We sat down for breakfast 🥞 early in the morning and stuffed ourselves. Then we took a taxi 🚖 to the bus terminal in Guayaquil. Wow, the bus terminal was huge. But we quickly found the JIPIJAPA counter. Of all the counters there, this one was the SHADIEST🙈. My philosophy was: they save on the office and go all out with the buses. Daniela got us two tickets for the 8:15 bus. We positioned ourselves at stop 78 and waited for our bus. Several buses were already at the terminal. Some great double-deckers, we were excited and really looking forward to our bus. I'm chuckling as I write this, because a bus came to stop 78 that looked like an old disco bus - tasteless as can be! The exterior colors were hilarious - orange, yellow, blue, and green. Oh, oh, I checked my ticket again to see if we really depart from number 78???? YEP, that's what it said. We chose our seats in the eye-straining interior and I told Daniela that if we get lice - IT WILL BE HERE -! We quickly disinfected everything, I even put on my hat 🥴! The woman in the row next to us laughed. I didn't care, it was disgusting.
The bus ride lasted four hours. Time flew by for me. Because I love observing the scenery and the locals in the small towns. I'm still amazed by the large rice fields, and here too, the rice was drying on the streets. It's like being in Asia.
After 4 hours, we finally reached the bus station in Puerto Lopez. A Tuk Tuk took us to our hotel. I find it fascinating that there are Tuk Tuks here too. The hotel room also has a nice balcony - with a hammock - and a view 🤓of the sea. It looks really beautiful. We both said it reminds us a bit of Bali :-)
It's unbelievable - but we have a day off tomorrow 🤗-! No need to set an alarm, just sleep in and relax. We will enjoy it.
Greetings from Puerto Lopez
