Tag 67: Abel Tasman National Park Hiking

We start the day with cloudy skies like yesterday. To do the most popular part of the Great Walk, we take the cruise along the entire park and back to Medlands Bay. From here we make the 10km walk to Anchorage. Along the way, we see dolphins and seals resting on the rocky island.

The trail is beautiful, and actually quite similar to the trail in the Kaiteriteri Bike Park yesterday - except that we are walking and not on bikes.

In the afternoon, the weather gods smile upon us. The sun comes out and the colors of the beaches turn bright white, while the colors of the sea turn dark blue and turquoise. Wonderful! We are most delighted to see this world of colors live and not just in the promotional videos on the boat.

We could have even shortened the route thanks to low tide by wading through Torrent Bay. But we prefer to take the detour and visit Cleopatra's Pool, which we would do again. In total, it has become 12km for us (with detours).

What a beautiful day in the wonderful Abel Tasman National Park.

In the evening, we drive on to Ruby Bay, another really great campsite, this time right by the sea.

Thank you very much for this recommendation 😊
