After a few days, I can now say that I have arrived well. Costa Rica is so beautiful and yet so different that I had to get used to it first.
The people are so hospitable and polite that you feel very comfortable, but you often see their financial struggles. Many Costa Ricans (also known as Ticas and Ticos) live a very modest life in tin-roofed shacks.
The cost of food is incredibly high (more expensive than in Germany), so you really have to be careful with what you buy. It's much cheaper to buy an empanada from a local stand for 1400Č - the equivalent of about 2€ - than to buy all the ingredients for pasta or rice dishes.
On the first day, we had an introduction and then met our Spanish teachers. My teacher's name is Laura and she is from Chile.
Yesterday, we had classes in the morning and then took the bus to San José (bus tickets are very cheap). It was really exciting; there are potholes and obstacles everywhere on the roads.
I’ll check in again in a few days, until then - Hasta luego y buenos días a todos:)
