Today our tour took us from the White Mountains in New Hampshire to the Green Mountains in Vermont.
We mostly used scenic highways with wonderful views.
Have I mentioned before that the White Mountains are beautiful and resemble the Black Forest? No? Okay, then I'll do it now.
The White Mountains are beautiful and resemble the Black Forest. They are just bigger and more uninhabited. We drove about 40 kilometers on a road without seeing a house or a town. Just forest, rivers, and lakes.
It is hard to describe this beauty without sounding corny. If I were religious, I would thank God for creating this piece of land. But I'm not. Instead, I thank the conservation organizations that prevented the industry from deforesting everything here.
After leaving the White Mountains, we seamlessly entered the Green Mountains in Vermont. Along the way, we made a stop in Hanover. No, not Hannover! Hanover! A beautiful little town and home to Dartmouth University.
Looks expensive, and it probably is. Dartmouth is one of the elite universities in the USA, so Daddy's wallet has to be pretty big for the offspring to study here. You see 18-year-olds driving past in their Mercedes GLs. By the way, many famous people have studied at Dartmouth University, including Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and Darth Sidious.
But back to nature:
The Green Mountains are beautiful and resemble the Black Forest. They are just bigger.
That may sound like everything is equally boringly beautiful here. It is beautiful, but not boring because we have many cute little villages where time seems to stand still. Plus, almost every village has a covered bridge.
The deeper we go into the Green Mountains, the more obvious it becomes what people here make a living from: winter sports! The mountains are filled with slopes and ski lifts, and every 10 miles, we pass a winter sports resort. Killington, our destination for today, is probably something like the winter sports mecca in Vermont. Our hotel is appropriately named 'Snowed Inn'. But fortunately, there is no snow here at the moment.
Alright, enough writing for now, Dad needs to sleep because tomorrow we're going to Canada!
