Torghatten - Brønnøysund - 07. September

We have breakfast outside, yes, it is dry... but quite cold. It smells like snow and like winter... but we would rather have a bit more summer and the longing for the south gets stronger. We get back on the E6, make a short stop in Mosjøen and decide to leave the E6 after a few kilometers to switch to the coastal road. We want to see the sea again... and a different road...!

The clouds are clearing more and more and the sun is showing itself... nice... blue sky...! We drive through the really beautiful town of Brønnøysund on the Helgeland coast and reach a great camping site right by the water, at the foot of Torghatten, the rock with the hole!

Here too we can just find a spot and are asked to check in in the evening. We enjoy the great weather, walk with the dog and treat ourselves to a cold drink. In the evening the restaurant and therefore the reception is open. The biker gang, which also rattled in here with their fat cars this afternoon, has taken a seat in the restaurant and are in a good mood. Apparently they have reserved, otherwise the restaurant doesn't open out of season. Lucky for us! We don't feel like cooking anyway and decide to eat something here. Maybe there is mashed potatoes from the vending machine...!

Oh shit... mashed potatoes from the vending machine...! There is only a 6-course menu... who would have expected that. We don't care, we take that too, it's even better. And then we dine in style for a total of 3.5 hours... incredible...! And if that's not enough, we also take the wine menu... hahaha... price... doesn't matter! If not now, then when? Now I finally know what dear Father always means by good food... it was a feast! It deserved a little star! We always wanted to eat such a fine meal, but I didn't expect to do it with twelve bikers in fat leather jackets and us in shabby hoodies... at the campsite...! But it couldn't have been better! Perfect interior, view of the fjord, great wine, best food, 12 bikers and us... wonderful!

As if that's not enough, we stand in front of the bus around midnight and we not only see the starry sky... no... also the northern lights... beautiful!

The next day welcomes us again with blue sky and sunshine. Excellent weather for a birthday serenade for dear Dad!

The washing machines are free, so let's do some laundry! At noon we pack our backpacks and climb Torghatten, the rock with the hole. It really looks impressive... after a strenuous hike we are rewarded with a magnificent view. The dog, the old mountain goat, finally gets to swim at the beach again after the descent and we enjoy the wonderful weather. In the afternoon, I managed to completely ruin the pancakes, but we still ate them. We had a great meal the day before...!

The current Hurtigruten ship is passing by again and looks completely bizarre in the surrounding landscape.

During a small evening walk, we enjoy the truly enchanting view of rust-red mountains and deep blue fjords. A really fine place with very nice hosts and damn good food! It was a pleasure :)
