Oahu Island ⛰️🌊

ຈັດພີມມາ: 25.03.2020

On Thursday morning, our propeller plane Mukulele started back to Honolulu. But this time I got the 'honorable' seat on the back sofa :) After a quick check-in at our new hostel on Waikiki beach (with a free upgrade due to many cancellations because of the Coronavirus), we spent the rest of the day at the beach. In the evening, we had free pizza on the rooftop terrace of our hostel and a huge hostel party. 🍕🍾 For the next two days, Jojo and I had booked tours around the island. On our first tour, we were driven around the island by Uncle Henry and Jack, with 12 drunken moms in bikini t-shirts. 👙😂 Together, we enjoyed the view from Diamond Head over the east coast of Oahu and visited a coffee farm to wake up, where our tour bus started smoking, and we had to wait for a new bus because of the breakdown. ☕ Roasted in the morning sun, we continued along the east coast on beautiful beaches after 1 hour in the new luxury bus. Since all public places and beaches were closed because of the Coronavirus, we stopped at secret places to still be able to see beautiful beaches and turtles (Jack: 'if the police come, pick up trash, then nothing will happen to us!'). 🐢🌊 After visiting a macadamia farm, we went to Turtle Beach Resort to have butter-garlic shrimp, the best shrimp I have ever eaten! 🦐⛱️ On the way back, we drove along the Jurassic Park filming location and admired the incredibly beautiful nature. 🦖⛰️ The next morning, our next tour started, which was almost a private tour due to many cancellations :), with Daniel and Emily through Waikiki and Honolulu. Daniel showed us the famous street art (graffiti) district of Honolulu and drove us to the most beautiful viewpoints of the city. 🎨🏙️ We also stopped in Makapu, where we could swing at the beach (unfortunately, no swimming because the waves were too strong...). To see more of Hawaii's nature, we drove further into the mountains and discovered a small local village where we had lunch, alongside fascinating mountains and plantations. ⛰️🥙 Our last stop was a small jungle trail that showed us some film sets from the movie Jurassic Park and left us in awe. 🌿🍃 One of the highlights of our Hawaii trip was weaving a Hawaiian lei po'o (flower crown) in the park right by the beach, where we had to flee from the police in between (Thanks, Corona...) and finally hid to continue crafting in front of the closed War Memorial Natatorium. 🌺 We spent our evenings on the rooftop terrace of our hostel, where we were visited by our friends Lucy, Manu, and Philipp from the hostel next door :) One evening, Lucy and I were taken by a hostel employee to the Alohiani Hotel, where we secretly bathed in the luxury pools on the hotel roof. 🌜🏊🏽‍♀️ On our last evening, a hostel party was held for us... I will miss you all❣️
