The night noise

The noise at night in Salzburg deserves a mention. The Nord-Sam campsite is located very close to the main railway line. There is not only a lot of train traffic there, but also shunting manoeuvres and track construction work at night. Earplugs helped.

The days

The tour to Salzburg went through the hilly hinterland, except for the stretch along the Salzach. There were short, steep climbs of around 10%, but also corresponding descents. At 28°C in the shade, we were pretty exhausted, as there was by no means always shade.

This is how flat a 10% gradient can look
Salzach: we are in Austria
Caribbean sandy beaches...
Wi-Fi on the train: we just have to be fast enough

The panoramic photo shows the approaching thunderstorm that hit Salzburg shortly afterwards. While we were watching the heavy rain through the window of the ice cream parlor, it was making the tent on the campsite dirty. Since the expensive campsite does not have a meadow for tents, but two small, stony patches of earth, the lower half of the tent looked like a mud fight.

Tomorrow we continue on the Alpe Adria cycle path into the mountains towards Italy.
