We have had exciting days in Broome. This town is like a holiday destination and starting point for numerous tours for Australians. Whether scenic flights, camel rides on the beach, or fishing tours - you can do it all here. 🏝
We arrived there quite relaxed, as we always are lately, because stress doesn't help!!
Since we couldn't receive our new camper until 2 days later, we booked a room on Airbnb. Pretty interesting because the landlord, Trev, lives in the same house.
He rents out 3 guest rooms and he himself sleeps on his couch or in an available room. The kitchen, bathroom, and living room are for everyone, so privacy for him is zero. Well, that wouldn't be for us 😅. Already in the corridor in front of our room, a strange smell struck us and something was wrong. With a trained eye, Gianna then found the root of all evil. On the small carpet in front of the bed, a dog (I hope it was a dog 😂) had done its big, huge business! 💩
Fortunately, we then got the other room 😉.
Broome is pretty nice but not more special than any other places we have seen. Of course, the famous Cable Beach invites you to linger, but it was way too hot for us (38 degrees and no shade at the beach), so we went for burgers at 10:30 in the morning.
What bothered us the next day was, on one hand, the constant noise from planes that bothered us while eating, and on the other hand, the meat that was overcooked! It couldn't be worse, I order medium-rare meat for the first time in 3 weeks and it comes well done 😱! Doesn't matter, I was hungry and it wasn't that bad. By the way, it cost 39$ / 27 CHF, which is not a big deal for 400g of meat with fries and salad. At least the waiter also gave us a ginger beer as an apology dessert! You can probably guess what Gianna ate 😀 🍕 🍕
Things always get worse is our motto and it continued like this the next day. Gianna's highlight of the vacation was within reach: shopping and packing the new camper van! 😰 What we didn't consider in vacation mode, it's Sunday and the supermarket is closed but the liquor shop is open. In Australia, it's always separate and even cigarettes can only be bought without a logo and for $30 per pack at the counter!
We are now starting the second part of our journey with the worst-case scenario - without beer 🍺!
Beer has never tasted as good as here after a hot day during a beautiful sunset 🌅💔!
Completely exhausted, I also had to realize that our new car doesn't have manual transmission but automatic. The last adventure is also taken away from me. Nightmare after nightmare! I want to wake up 😰. But it's not that simple..
Well, our new camper is not that bad after all. A bit more comfort including microwave and toaster. Who the hell needs that in a camper?
You may have noticed that I enjoy a bit of adventure or life outside the comfort zone, but Gianna is not always as enthusiastic 😉.
After several hundred kilometers, life had mercy on us and I could buy beer! And from then on, the wave of happiness continued 😃.
Arriving in Karijini National Park, I took an evening swim while Gianna devoured her book in the car.
And as I turned the corner lost in thought, I already realized that this piece of wood was somehow too round! 2 meters in front of me, the "Death in 3h" crossed my path. A King Brown Snake! It slithered peacefully under a tree and afterwards, I took a bath 10 meters away 😬!
The next day, during the hike in the canyon, a large monitor lizard calmly walked past us. 🦎 This time Gianna wasn't afraid but still had a big stick for protection against snakes! You see, now the crocodiles are gone (they don't exist anymore further south), and now the snakes are a topic.
Otherwise, the last few days haven't been exceptionally exciting, we had travel days because the distances are incredibly far!
At least the roads here are a bit more exciting, as several road trains cross our path! Huge vehicles with 4-5 trailers. It's quite crazy because due to the wind here, the last trailers sway dangerously over the center line.
It has become a bit cooler (only 34-36 degrees) as we get closer to the coast, and the nights are pleasantly cool and not as humid as in Broome.
Our path now leads us to Exmouth, to the beautiful beaches and hopefully a lot of marine life while diving! 🦈 🐢 🐳
