16.-18.02.2017: Canberra

ຈັດພີມມາ: 24.02.2017

In the evening we reached Australia's capital Canberra. Our hostel in the city center was fully booked and we shared the floor with many Chinese children.

The next morning we visited the Australian War Memorial. There we took a 2-hour tour of the Memorial, which is a mixture of museum and memorial. The names of all soldiers who died in wars are listed there. The museum highlights Australia's role, especially in World War I and II. After the Memorial, we went to the promenade, which, like the rest of Canberra, was quite empty. We reached the Parliament House after a short walk, where we also took a guided tour.

The next day we visited the National Multicultural Festival, which took place in the city center. There, coincidentally, we also witnessed the performance of the Chinese children. There were many other shows as well: South Pacific dances, bagpipe bands, samba groups, etc. In the afternoon, we visited the National Australian Museum, which focuses on the history of people in Australia. We learned a lot about the culture of the Aboriginal people and immigrants.

In the late evening, we took the night bus that took us to Melbourne in 8 hours.
