Day 6 • Te Anau - Queenstown

ຈັດພີມມາ: 13.02.2018

Our journey today took us from Te Anau, along Lake Wakatipu, to Queenstown, and then on to Glenorchy, Arrowtown, and back to Queenstown. A truly beautiful route amidst a truly beautiful landscape. One would want to stop every 10 meters to take the next photo. The further we drove towards Queenstown, the better the weather became (24 degrees and sunny). Glenorchy is a small town located about an hour from Queenstown on the northern edge of Lake Wakatipu. Many scenes for 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'Narnia' were apparently filmed in the area. The experts should take a look at the photos and confirm. We have no idea... :-) It's incredibly beautiful there regardless. The next village, Arrowtown, is an old gold rush town and the buildings still look the same as they did during the gold rush. Very touristy, but you can imagine what it was like to live there back then. You can still go gold panning there today. If you're into that... Queenstown is truly stunning. The city is also located directly on Lake Wakatipu and on the edge of the Southern Alps. Our accommodation today is very well located, but otherwise the value for money is not great here. But that's probably because there is a lot of tourism here and the accommodations are always well booked. You can quickly end up paying a bit more. Today, we went to the lake and did some touristy things. Otherwise, you can do anything here that gets your adrenaline pumping. Bungee jumping, speedboating, rafting, etc. All quite expensive. Tomorrow, we'll take the cable car to Bob's Peak and then see what the day brings.
